Maryknoll Sisters of St. Dominic

The Maryknoll Sisters are a Congregation of Catholic women religious "committed to cross boundaries whether cultural, religious,social,geographic, or economic to proclaim the Good News of the Reign of God" (Maryknoll Sisters' consitutions: articles #22,40)

Founded in 1912 in Ossining New York by Mary Josephine Rogers, the community was officially recognized by the Vatican as a religious congregation in1920. It was the first American-founded congregation of women dedicated exclusively to foreign missions.

To date the Maryknoll sisters live and serve in about 30 countries.The sisters come from 29 countries of the world. They serve as catechists and pastoral workers,as doctors and nurses,social workers,agronomists, community development workers and peace builders. Every sister usess her gifts and talents, her training and knowledge, and more importantly, her compassionate love and care to promote the total well-being of all those whom she serves.
